A Renaissance

My fellow frequent Lofi Beats listeners know this picture all too well…

It’s been a while. Let’s catch up.

My last post was back in 2021, and I’m coming to you now in March 2023. A lot has happened in these past couple of years.

I graduated college in May 2021, completed an internship with the PR Alliance in August, and got my first professional job with GovExec Media in September, and I’ve been working with them ever since.

It’s hard to admit, but I wasn’t ready for how much my life as I knew it would change after I entered the workforce. I felt as though I had a lot less time for myself. I slacked off with reading, writing, and my blog – things that make me genuinely happy. As grateful as I am for my job, let’s be honest, I definitely don’t want to be doing it forever.

I envy the people that are able to make money from doing what they’re passionate about. So I choose not to wallow in my own self-pity. I’m going to become one of those people.

Reader, I’m in a renaissance right now. I have no idea what spurned it on, but I’m not going to question it. I feel more driven to make this writing thing happen for me. I WILL have a published novel one day. Maybe even two or three or ten. I WILL. And it starts here.

I’m not going to sit around waiting for something to fall into my lap. I’m going to work and make it happen for myself.

As a result, the primary purpose of Readers and Daydreamers (now readreaming!) has shifted. What started as a student blog that I created for a class turned into my personal portfolio for all of my schoolwork, but it has reached another stage of evolution.

As of today, March 5th, 2013, readreaming will be truly everything the title suggests it should be. Expect book reviews/recommendations, short stories, writing prompts, and the newest writing breakthroughs I’m having.

I’m in this for the long haul. This is what I want and I’m going to get it. And I hope you’ll watch as I do it.
